Camera Techniques Video - Omasan

For this task, we were given a list of shots, with the definitions, where we had to take our own shots. This was to test our knowledge on the different types of shots. As we have the role of filming the video. we also had to include key photography skills such as The rule of thirds and the depth of field. As you can see I used those techniques in the images.

1. Camera Movements
Tracking shot - This is used to convey someone is being followed, e.g The victim running away from antagonist
Tilt Shot - Can be used to create suspense, as it slowly reveals what is going to happen but tilting upwards or downwards.
Pan shot - Used to reveal what is on each side of the camera, e.g someone standing in the corner of the room.
Zoom Shot - creates suspense and tension.
Stedicam - This can be used to follow antagonist, as it is a smooth shot.
Hand-held Cam - Usually portrays characters emotion, e.g shaky hands connote fear.
2. Camera Angles
Birds Eye View - This can be used when there is a an overview of the scene and location.
Worms Eye View - Use to show power of antagonist.
Two Shot - This is when there is 2 people in a shot, can be used to show relationships.
High angle shot - used to show inferiority, mainly used for protagonist.
Low Angle shot - Mainly used for antagonist connotes superiority.
Canted Shots - Can be used to show trouble, and there is something unusual about the scene.
Wide Angle Shot - Used to establish the location of the scene.
POV ( Point of View) shot - Mainly used to show protagonist POV, allows the audience to see things through the protagonist point of view.
Over the shoulder shot - Normally used to crate suspense.
Establishing Shot - Used as an opening shot, reveals the location, to set the scene.
3. Camera shots
Extreme Long Shot - Focuses on the scenery, can be used to show location of haunted house or forest etc.
Long Shot - Still has main focus on surrounding, can be used when protagonist if walking into the location
Medium Long Shot - can be used showing protagonist or victim in the location.
Mid Shot - Shows characters body language and connotes their emotion.
Medium Close up - shows protagonist facial expressions clearly, still parts of the background showing.
Close up - Can be used when showing reaction or emotion of victim.
Extreme Close up - Shows victims features e.g eyes, nose mouth. Can be used when following victims view.

These are the 10 key stock shots that will be included in our trailer, Listed below are the shots and where they will be used in our trailer. The purpose of this task was also to make sure we understood the shots that we were going add to the trailer.

Behind Opaque Glass - This shot will be used near the beginning when the protagonist is standing behind an opaque glass.
Tracking Down Corridor - This will be used several time during the trailer. The first time it will be used if near the beginning when the protagonists are walking in the forest, to show that they are being followed.
Slow-mo Blood Droplet - this will be used after the first protagonist dies, as the will be blood dripping from the antagonist claws, it will also be used, when the antagonist is following the protagonist through the forest, during the disruption part of the trailer.
Zombie Track Away - This show will be used several times during the teaser trailer, as the will be shots of the antagonist walking and it will be used to show the antagonist is following someone.
Corridor POV track & Shadow - This will be used during the texture shots , at the beginning in the forest.
Shadow of Knife - This will be used at the end when the antagonist is about to kill on of the protagonist.
Low Canted angle on Haunted House - This will be used at the beginning as an establishing shot of the Cabin.
Jump Cut towards Camera - This will be used during the disruption when the antagonist is walking towards the cabin.
Close Up (CU), Resting before jumpscare - This will be used during the disruption, when the protagonist are running away from the antagonist.
