Sound Design Introduction
Omasan Pemu
The sound is a vital part of the trailer production. Without sound the trailer would not have any effect on the audience, because it is the sound that helps to build up suspense, and create the atmosphere. it also has a massive effect on the audiences emotions, as scary and eerie music/ sound effects would make the audience feel frightened and uncomfortable, and it would also make the audience feel visceral effects.
Ghostly Ghouls Productions soundtrack will consist of frightening, daunting and captivating sounds to create the atmosphere.
This section will include: Our inspirations from Real media text, the editing software that was used to create our sound designs, screenshots showing the progress of the sound design, and The finished Sound design product that will be featured in The Ghostly Ghouls teaser trailer Production.

Inspirations

Cabin FeverThere is limited diegetic sounds, as there is mainly instrumentals used. however, they use drums to build up the tension, which is really effective. As then tension rises the drums get louder and quicker. This would be an idea, or sound that could be used in the sound design. At the end there is a reoccurring horn sound, this would be good to use as the outro for the sound design. Also horn sounds are normally used as the outro to trailer.

The ForestThe trailer uses many effective sound effects such as, drones and booms, which are recognisable conventions in the horror genre. We liked the part when she was clicking the camera, and each time she clicked the camera, the sound would correlate, with the changes of the scene. The drones and booms sounds, could be used in our trailer, to help build up tension, or when the scene changes.

Final cut Pro Software
Omasan Pemu
Final cut pro is a non-linear video editing software that was developed by Apple Inc. This software includes features such as, Magnetic Time line, Multi cam, Clip connections and 3D text. Eventhough this software if mainly used to edit videos. I used it for the sound design, because i personally found it much more easier to use. As it allowed me to add transitions between each audio, and also edit the volume easily.
The Process
Omasan Pemu
After deciding on the sounds and effects that I would use to create the sound track, i had to create the audio. The sound track was made up of sounds such as trees rustling, drone effects, booms and screams. Even though the task was fairly straight forward, there were some difficulties that I encountered. For example during after finding the sound I had to edit the volume, as if it was too loud in the actual audio, then it would cause harm to the audience. I also had to filters to the audio, so it would sound like it was in the actual forest.
The First Draft of the audio
Omasan Pemu
This is the first draft for the the audio of the trailer. Due to the fact that it is the first copy, i am aware that there will be improvements that need to be made for the sound design. The sound design is made out of different sounds such as, leaves rustling, eerie wind, man shouting, and blood dripping sound. Throughout the course of the sound design, tension is gradually built up as it goes, from the texture shots, to disruption, to the montage, so the sound has to correlate with video.
Audio & Animatic

Here is the audio put together with the animatic. This will give us a rough representation of what the actual trailer will look like. As we have merged the sketches of the trailer with the sound. As you can see with the animatic, the sound and the storyboard go well together, as the texture shots, dirsuption and montage all line up properly with the sound.
