Our horror movie is based around a monster that preys on teenagers to rip them apart and as such we needed to create lacerations, cuts and bruising on the victims - as well as the fangs, skin 'texture' and claws that created the wounds. This is the research and its results.

The exorcist is being used as a reference as it shows small cuts and and the deteriorating of a body this paired with the wild look to her costumes such as her messed hair and ripped clothing could be used as a reference for the dead victims in the trailer. The contacts also give a strange effect needed to create a humanoid monster which we will be doing.

another human- like monster is the creeper from Jeepers creepers. i chose this one in particular due to the teeth which we will be recreating. they're sharp and thin and change very slightly from scene to scene however the checks are expandable and allows for more damage to the bodies of the victim. however we will not be using the same style of of make up for the victims as they die in a more dinner/replenish like manner.

There are two reasons that i chose an american werewolf in london - the first being jack goodman the friend of the main character. this is due to the rip across his neck. its a 72 piece prosthetic however the simpler version can be made of build-able latex which hangs of the side of the neck and is frayed across the lower shoulder and collar bone.
|
The other reason i chose this film is due to the characteristics that change with the wolf such as the eyes and teeth but more importantly the claws as they are seen distending from his hands through rough skin. This relates to our monster as it is described in the script to have scaly skin and sharp thin claws.

This effect is for the monster and i made of 3 sets of fake nails - i think it would be effective as the skin is torn around the nails. i like this effect as it shows use and discolouration on the nails.

this is also for the monster i like this as they are sharp enough to look like they will pierce skin but not so long that they are not usable - it also helps that the shape mimics a human mouth so that the victims cuts can look as realistic as possible.

this tutorial shows how to make a deep enough looking wound that it could have been created by the claws however i believe that this would need to be recreated side by side to show that it is a hand full of claws and not a knife wound - this also helps as it shows that the edges of the wound does not need to be straight.
|
this is the alternative to the latex tutorial however i felt as though the wound was to small to be used -the wax also means that the cut is to smooth to be created by a monster that is killing the main characters.

Equipment :
Liquid Latex Tissue Foundation eyeshadow / contour stick Fake blood (made using water, red food colouring, and coffee grains. |
Method - dionnestep 1 : apply a layer of liquid latex to the skin where you want the wound and allow to dry.
step 2 ; once the base layer has dried begin to layer tissue and latex to create a paper mache - then allow to dry. step 3 : once the latex mix has dried on the skin cut open the place of the wound tearing when needed to make it more realistic. step 4 : using a foundation one shade darker than the persons skin (as the latex is bright white the colour will likely show up lighter depending on the foundation used) colour apply the colour to the inside and outside of the latex - using a dark eye shadow and/or a contour stick to make the inside of the wound appear deeper. Step 5 :using water, food colouring and coffee grains mix together until it sets darker than when you first mix it, step 5 : using the fake blood make splatters or trickles of blood around the wound and on the skin, making sure there are no straight lines of blood. |
Here is another test that i did on myself separately before the filming - Dionne.
